The Graded Reader Network in Thailand (GRANT) is happy to announce that 18 new stories are out. All of them are written by Thai or Thai based authors and all are available for you to read and use in your class.
The project took around a year from start to finish. It began with a workshop introducing the key principles and tools of storytelling. Participants then developed their own story ideas and left with a solid synopsis and a draft of the first chapter to guide their writing. Over the following months, the writers were supported by Rob Waring and myself as they developed their stories. We met again for a workshop in February to help the authors refine and strengthen their work as they moved towards their final drafts.
And here they are! It was exciting to watch these stories grow from an initial idea to the finished books. I was really impressed with the quality of the stories.
Before the project there weren't any graded reader stories with Thai characters in Thai settings. Now this has changed. I hope this is just the beginning of many similar projects in the future.
Congratulations to all the authors.
