Every story I write or adapt holds a special memory for me. With Wind in the Willows it is the memory of a child reading,
Up!
Up!
Up!
As Mole tunnels his way to the surface.
There is a piece of dialogue in this story that I am particularly proud of. It is when Rat and Mole are talking about where they want to go. The conversation goes something like this:
Rat: Let's go out for the day.
Mole: Where?
Rat: Nowhere.
Mole: Let's go nowhere now!
This conversation delights kids. If you ever get a chance to use or read this story, please do. It was a delight to adapt and I put a lot of love into it.
